Talerhof Remembrance Day
During World War I, thousands of our Carpatho-Russian, Lemko, people were imprisoned, tortured and killed at Talerhof and other concentration camps, vicinity of Vienna, by the Austria-Hungarian military although they were law abiding citizens - A tragic irony of this calamity - at the same time, many young Lemko men from Galicia, including some relatives of the imprisoned, were drafted to serve as soldiers to fight and die on the Italian Front for the Emperor.
We honored their memory by a memorial service offered on August 5, 2007.
