Jesus is Baptized
Jesus came to show us the way to God.
Jesus said we must be baptized.
We must wash ourselves clean and live a new and better way.
Jesus was baptized by John.
When Jesus was baptized, God His Father spoke from Heaven.
He said: “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”
God our Father was please that Jesus was showing us how to do what God wants us to do. When we first came to church, we were baptized.
The priest dipped us 3 times in the water and said: “The child of God [name] is baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”
Every year we remember Jesus’ baptism. The priest blesses water in church. Then the priest comes to bless our homes. We can prepare for the priest’s visit. First, we put a clean white cloth on a table. Then, we place on it a small bowl for the Holy water, a candle, and an icon.
